What is a Registered Tai Chi Professional?
A Registered Tai Chi Professional is recognised for delivering safe, effective, and inclusive Tai Chi programs designed to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Whether working with individuals or groups in studios, community centres, aged care settings, or health facilities, Tai Chi professionals offer evidence informed practices aligned with their qualifications, ongoing education, and AUSactive’s Code of Ethical Conduct. Registered Tai Chi Professionals maintain their first aid qualifications, meet ongoing education requirements and abide by AUSactive’s Code of Ethical Conduct.
A Registered Tai Chi Professional must have completed a Tai Chi course that meets the industry foundation requirements. See the list of approved courses.
What are the Requirements to become a Registered Tai Chi Professional?
Registration as a Tai Chi Professional requires submission of formal evidence of the following:
- A Certificate of Completion provided by a recognised Tai Chi education provider. The Tai Chi course completed must meet the industry foundation requirements for registration categories. See the list approved courses.
- Hold a current nationally recognised First Aid (renewed every 3 years) and CPR (renewed annually).
- Demonstrate a minimum of 20 CPDs in the previous 24-months relevant to Tai Chi (not required if the initial formal education outlined below was completed within the past 2 years)
Ongoing Registration Requirements
- Maintain current nationally recognised First Aid (required to renew every 3 years) and CPR (required annually).
- Accumulate the applicable amount of Continuing Professional Development (CPDs) relevant to Tai Chi for each registration period (refer to the Professional Development section below)
- minimum of 10 CPDs for those registered for 12-months, or
- minimum of 20 CPDs for those registered for 24-months
Professional Development
The following criteria applies for Tai Chi Professionals in addition to the methods to accumulate CPDs referenced in the AUSactive CPD Guidelines.
The variety of AUSactive-approved programs for Tai Chi Professionals will continue to grow.
In the interest of providing flexibility for registration and maintaining registration throughout 2024-2025, Tai Chi Instructors will be able to attain 1 CPD per 1.5 hours of affiliated training up to a maximum of 10 CPDs per year.
