Barrie Elvish Joins the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout
AUSactive CEO Barrie Elvish is taking part in the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout, raising vital funds and awareness for the 122,000 Australians experiencing homelessness each night. As one of his final initiatives as CEO, Barrie is using this moment to highlight how homelessness impacts physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Why the CEO Sleepout Matters
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Since 2006, the event has raised over $91 million nationally to support crisis accommodation, food services and long-term housing solutions. Barrie has set a fundraising target of $10,000, encouraging the exercise and active health industry to rally behind the cause.
A Call to Action for the Exercise and Active Health Industry
Barrie highlighted that wellbeing cannot exist without safety, shelter and stability.
“Our industry is about helping people live healthier, stronger lives. But how can someone focus on wellbeing if they don’t have a safe or warm place to sleep?” Barrie said.
He urged fitness businesses, exercise professionals and the broader community to join him:
“Make this initiative one to remember — not for me, but for the 122,000+ people who don’t have a place to call home tonight. Together, we can make a powerful difference.”
