Last week AUSactive held a corporate strategy day with its Board to discuss its strategic direction which involved our focus on effective advocacy as a central goal to ensure the recognition of both our business members and exercise professionals, as essential players in Australia's preventive health landscape.
To streamline our work, we agreed to consolidate our existing seven strategic pillars from our Corporate Plan, to three key priorities:
- Effective Advocacy
- Fostering Professional Credibility
- Delivering Valued Support to an Engaged Membership
From an advocacy perspective, our strategy, is to continue to influence government decision-makers at all levels to support and advance the active health and exercise industry. This includes advocating for increased recognition of physical activity as a critical element of preventive health, demonstrating its value in improving physical and mental health outcomes, and removing barriers to participation in the sector.
Key deliverables over the next few years will include securing funding for initiatives like the Million Moves program, promoting a public health campaign to encourage physical activity, advocating for FBT equity and means tested vouchers for people to access physical activity programs.
By focusing on advocacy as a central pillar in our strategy, AUSactive aims to continue to drive meaningful change and strengthen the role of physical activity in Australia’s preventive health environment.
