Owned by James and Karen Grant, GINGYM has been an AUSactive Business Member for around five years. James has also been an AUSactive Professional Member for more than 10 years. Together, they are passionate about helping people discover the lifelong benefits of movement, strength and active living.
A Passion for Helping People Move
For Karen, working in the exercise and active health industry has never felt like a job.
“I've been involved in health and fitness my whole life. I can't really say it's a career, it's more of a way of life.”
James found his passion after overcoming severe back pain as a teenager.
“Balanced strength training was medicine. I'm very passionate about rehabilitation through strength.”
Today, that shared passion shapes every part of GINGYM. It also drives the team to help people build healthier, stronger lives.
Creating a Gym for Everyone
GINGYM is the only gym servicing a large surrounding area. As a result, the team has created a welcoming space where everyone can feel comfortable and supported.
Members range in age from 12 to 88 years. They also come from many different cultures, backgrounds and fitness levels. Whether someone is starting their fitness journey, recovering from injury or training for competition, GINGYM meets every person where they are.
In addition, the business now offers Pilates Reformer classes, an infrared sauna and HYROX training. These services give members even more ways to improve their health and wellbeing.
Making a Difference Beyond the Gym
GINGYM's impact reaches far beyond its gym floor.
The team works closely with local schools, sporting clubs and workplaces. They also welcome travelling workers from many different countries and backgrounds. Meanwhile, their growing HYROX community continues to bring people together through fitness.
For James and Karen, the greatest reward is seeing the positive impact exercise has on people's lives.

Looking ahead, James and Karen hope the exercise and active health industry receives greater recognition from healthcare, education and government. They believe physical activity and preventative health should play a much bigger role in improving Australia's long-term health outcomes.
