Kilcoy Indoor Sport Centre and Gym reaffirms commitment to excellence with AUSactive Quality Business Accreditation

Kilcoy Indoor Sport Centre and Gym has once again been recognised as a leader in the Australian health and fitness industry, maintaining its Quality Business Accreditation with AUSactive, the nationally recognised peak body for the exercise and active health sector.
This significant achievement highlights the centre’s unwavering commitment to delivering safe, inclusive, and high-quality health and fitness services to the Kilcoy community and beyond.
Kilcoy Indoor Sport Centre and Gym Managing Director Jayne McKenzie said the accreditation was not only a business achievement was a personal one too.
“I started my fitness journey back in the 1970s in the UK, a time when there were no industry standards or qualifications,” Ms McKenzie said.
“Since then, I’ve worked in the UK, Japan, and now Australia — and until organisations like AUSactive came along, there was very little accountability or support.
“When we first achieved accreditation, I felt like we were finally being given the guidance we needed — not just for myself, but for our members, staff, and community. It validated what we were doing truly mattered.”
With two locations operating between 25–35 classes per week, the Kilcoy Indoor Sport Centre and Gym has grown far beyond its humble beginnings in scout huts and church halls.
Today, the centre is a thriving community hub offering allied health services, youth programs, gymnastics, seminars, workshops, and fundraising events — all driven by a passion for connection and care.
“We live and breathe our local community! From volunteering at parkruns to organising cancer walks and running school-based training and work experience programs — we’re not just a gym. We’re part of the town’s social fabric.”
AUSactive CEO Barrie Elvish congratulated the Kilcoy team on their achievement.
“Maintaining Quality Business Accreditation with AUSactive is no small feat — it requires ongoing commitment to safety, inclusivity, and best practice,” Mr Elvish said.
“Jayne and the team at Kilcoy Indoor Sport Centre and Gym are a shining example of what it means to go above and beyond for your members and your community.
“They represent the very best of our industry, and we’re proud to have them as part of the AUSactive network.”
The centre’s impact on Kilcoy has been transformative — with allied health services now readily available, including full-time physiotherapists, an exercise physiologist, a chiropractor, and a wide range of community-based health and wellness initiatives.
“We actually listen and respond, because in a rural town like ours, if we don’t act, people notice. Our members are more than clients — they’re family.” Ms McKenzie said.
