Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre Achieves AUSactive Business Quality Accreditation

Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre (NARC) has achieved AUSactive Business Quality Accreditation for the first time. The achievement recognises the centre's commitment to delivering safe, inclusive and high-quality active health, fitness and aquatic experiences for the Darebin community.

The accreditation recognises organisations that meet nationally recognised standards for quality, safety, governance, service delivery and customer experience. It also demonstrates alignment with the Fitness Industry National Quality Framework.

AUSactive Chief Executive Ken Griffin said the achievement reflects NARC's leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.

“Achieving AUSactive Business Quality Accreditation for the first time is an important milestone,” Mr Griffin said.

“It demonstrates that the NARC team has embedded quality, safety and accountability into its operations. More importantly, it shows the local community that NARC has built a culture of excellence and meets the highest industry standards.”

The AUSactive Business Quality Accreditation process includes an independent review, evidence submission and assessment. Together, these steps help organisations strengthen their systems, recognise good practice and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

A Commitment to Quality and Community

NARC's Health and Wellness Manager, Michael Quinn, said the accreditation is a proud achievement for the centre and its team.

“We're really proud to achieve this accreditation because it reflects the work our team puts in every day to deliver safe, high-quality services for our community,” Mr Quinn said.

“For our members and the broader Darebin community, this provides confidence that our programs and services are delivered in a safe, consistent and customer-focused environment.”

He said the accreditation also reinforces NARC's commitment to best practice. As a result, the centre can continue improving its services while meeting the changing needs of the community.

Supporting Active, Healthy Communities

NARC offers services for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. These include:

  • Indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities
  • Swimming lessons
  • A supervised health club
  • Group fitness classes
  • Reformer Pilates
  • Wellness services
  • Allied health consulting rooms

Mr Quinn said the accreditation process also helped the centre strengthen its approach to service delivery.

“Quality Business Accreditation with AUSactive provides a structured framework for us to review and strengthen how we operate. It recognises where we are performing well and highlights opportunities for improvement. This supports the ongoing development of our programs, services and staff.”

Today, NARC joins a growing network of AUSactive Business Quality Accredited organisations across Australia. Together, these businesses are recognised for delivering safe, inclusive and high-quality physical activity experiences.
