Active Merri-bek Centres Maintain AUSactive Quality Business Accreditation
Active Merri-bek’s Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre and Coburg Leisure Centre have maintained their AUSactive Quality Business Accreditation.
This achievement highlights their strong commitment to safety, service excellence and industry best practice.
Leading Community Health and Fitness Facilities
Both centres are operated by Y Victoria in partnership with Merri-bek City Council.
The AUSactive Quality Business Accreditation recognises their ability to deliver high-quality services while supporting community wellbeing.
As a result, these facilities continue to set the standard for local government fitness centres.
Commitment to Safety and Service Excellence
Bridie Chesterfield, Centre Manager at Coburg Leisure Centre, said the accreditation reflects the team’s ongoing commitment.
“Maintaining AUSactive Quality Business Accreditation shows our dedication to high standards,” Ms Chesterfield said.
“We use the accreditation process to improve our services and programs.”
She added that safety is central to their operations.
“As Y Victoria-run facilities, safety is part of our culture. We are proud to work with AUSactive to deliver quality services for our community.”
Supporting a Strong and Active Community
The two centres support more than 3,600 members.
Together, they deliver 184 group fitness classes each week.
As a result, they play an important role in supporting both physical and social wellbeing in the Merri-bek community.
Delivering a Consistent Member Experience
Active Merri-bek works closely with Merri-bek City Council to understand community needs.
This ensures every member receives consistent and high-quality support.
From initial consultation to ongoing check-ins, members are guided through a structured and personalised fitness journey.
As a result, programs are tailored to meet evolving health needs.
Recognition from AUSactive
AUSactive CEO Barrie Elvish commended both centres for their achievement.
“This accreditation reflects the professionalism and passion of the teams,” Mr Elvish said.
“Delivering quality services requires a strong focus on safety, community engagement and continuous improvement.”
Strengthening Community Connection
Both centres continue to play an important role in the Merri-bek community.
They provide more than just fitness facilities.
In addition, they support connection, inclusion and overall wellbeing.
