WE ARE AUSactive: Showcasing Member Jade Webb

As part of our new #WEAREAUSactive campaign, we will be showcasing the inspiring journeys and achievements of our AUSactive members across Australia every week.

This week, we're highlighting Jade Webb, NSW based exercise professional and the founder of ‘Zumba Kids with Jade’. Jade is a dedicated Zumba instructor who is passionate about creating a happy and inclusive space for kids of all abilities, disabilities, and neuro-diversities to dance together.

Meet Jade Webb

How long have you been a member with AUSactive?

I was a Student member since March 2024 and have recently upgraded to become an exercise professional member.

What qualifications do you hold?

I'm certified to teach Zumba, Zumba Kids & Kids Jnr, Aqua Zumba and Circl Mobility. I've submitted my last assignment for my GEL skillset.

What motivated you to pursue a career in the exercise and active health industry?

After completing my ‘Zumba Kids & Kids Jnr' training in October 2022, a parent asked when I was starting classes. Her daughter has down syndrome and she explained how regular dance classes weren't the right for her tiny dancer. I created my ‘Zumba Kids with Jade' classes and found that it has become a happy space for children who are neurodivergent or have a disability.

What has your journey as an exercise professional looked like so far?

I had never plans to become a fitness professional, as I was a cover Zumba instructor for many years. But since starting my own business ‘Zumba Kids with Jade' having formal fitness qualifications & being industry recognised, was important for my brand and also as an assurance for parents. I'm finalising my last assignment for my GEL (Group Exercise Leader) skillset.

What accomplishment are you most proud of, personally or professionally?

To provide a truly inclusive environment for kids of all abilities, disabilities and neuro-diversities. I didn't expect or anticipate the warmth I've received from families, especially when their child has struggled in the past with finding a place they fit in.

What has been your biggest challenge as an exercise professional?

It's hard to start up, and it costs money to advertise. Thankfully I've got a good word of mouth network and a supportive local community. The more I'm involved with the local parents and kids, the more exposure I'll receive. I want all kids to enjoy the benefits of movement!

What would you advise for someone thinking about a career in the exercise and active health industry?

AUSactive has a huge community of industry professionals. Sharing my journey will allow my business to grow and hopefully allow me to broaden my reach to even more kids.

What is the favourite part of your job?

Making kids smile! When the highlight of their week is coming to your classes, I know I'm doing things right!

What has been your highlight of being an AUSactive member?

My highlight is being a candidate for the #WeareActive campaign. I'm truly honoured to be recognised after only being a member with AUSactive for a short time.
