University Transcript Review

AUSactive Approved for Registration University Courses

Are you an Exercise Science student wanting to advance your skillset in a fitness setting before you graduate? Kick-start your career by applying to work as a Personal Trainer or Gym Instructor within the Australian fitness industry.

As the fitness industry continues to grow, there is a need for university level qualified personal trainers who are highly sought after by both employers and clients.

By gaining experience in the fitness industry you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills as an exercise professional, improve on your confidence and enhance your future job prospects. It will also give you ‘hands on’ experience that will help you decide which area of the health and fitness industry you’d like to specialise in.

Developing a University Mapping Criteria

A mapping criteria has been developed for tertiary students to register as an Australian Registered Exercise Professional (REP), and
work as PTs/Gym Instructors prior to graduation.

The fitness industry is evolving and as such the need for university level registered Personal Trainers is being sought after by employers
and clients.

Students completing an allied health degree develop knowledge and skills during their studies which match or exceed those featured within Cert III & IV courses

University Transcript Review FAQS

This process does not provide you with a Certificate III or IV in Fitness. AUSactive reviews your completed studies at university and aligns it with our professional registration requirements. If you would like a Certificate III and/or IV in Fitness, we recommend you contact a registered training organisation for more information

Once verified and approved, you will be eligible to register as a Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor with AUSactive.

Once a student graduates or has met AUSactive’s registration requirements prior to graduation, they can apply for registration and once approved they can operate within the Scope of Practice as a Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor.

Applicants must supply an official academic transcript. They must also supply evidence of a completed nationally recognised CPR (HLTAID009) and First Aid (HLTAID011) qualification. Some graduates with qualifications older than two-years may require evidence of up to 20 CECs of continuing education.

As soon as the student activates their Professional Membership account with AUSactive, a business can employ them in the same scope as a Cert III & IV in Fitness.

Unfortunately, the university review process for partially completed degrees only applies to universities who have submitted their course/s for review and approval. AUSactive reviews all units completed within a degree to determine students meet criteria for registration prior to graduation. However, a completed degree may be accepted from a university that isn’t listed.

No. Students must upgrade to a full membership if they wish to deliver exercise services. Student insurance will not cover activities beyond those during the course of their studies (i.e. professional placements).
