The next generation of health and fitness industry professionals, innovators, and business owners will have access to invaluable leadership and mentoring resources with the appointment of One Playground Founder and CEO Justin Ashley as the first AUSactive Career Ambassador.
The newly created AUSactive Career Ambassador position will support the student membership network and provide education, guidance and networking opportunities. Alongside raising awareness about the critical role, AUSactive plays in the industry.

Q&A with Justin Ashley
Why are you passionate about careers in the active health industry?
Our job is literally to change people’s lives. I wasn't a student designed for a “traditional” classroom. Kinesthetic learners are movers who love being around people, which is the skill set you need to be successful in the active health industry.
What one piece of advice would you give to someone interested in joining the active health industry?
Try as many roles as you can, it's through that experience that you're going to understand what you love and what you are great at! But by far, the most important thing you can do is choose your boss and the business you work for wisely, leverage their knowledge and seek out great mentors.
What is one career lesson you wish you had discovered earlier?
I was managing gyms at the age of 23, and I made many mistakes at that time. I changed my management style to manage every single team member in the individual way that they need to be happy and successful.
Looking back, what career tips do you think could have made a significant difference to you?
When I discovered the power of having different skills from different genders, backgrounds and ages, all within the same team my club’s performance went to another level.
