Private Health Fund Rebates

Private Health Fund Rebates

As the peak body – and the largest member organisation – in Australia’s exercise and active health sector, AUSactive has been able to negotiate agreements with key health funds to streamline access to private health fund rebates with major health funds, and is continuing to develop these agreements with additional funds. Our Registered Professional and Business Members can take advantage of streamlined administration of private health rebates for your members and clients through these initiatives.

What you need to know

All health funds are different. Each fund will have different requirements for you as the service provider. AUSactive has negotiated agreements with some health funds enabling you to quote your AUSactive Registered Member number, however other funds may require you to register directly with them. Please refer to the guidelines below for more information.

What your members or clients need to know

As with other health services for which rebates are available through private health funds, the value of rebates for fitness services is dependent on both the level of cover your member or client has, and their eligibility for refund for a fitness service. A referral from a doctor or allied health professional may be required by the fund before rebates apply. Holding private health insurance does not automatically ensure eligibility for a refund for a fitness service.

Latest news on AUSactive’s health fund advocacy programs

AUSactive is also advocating for the Government to reinstate discretion to Private Health Funds so they may allow their clients to access rebates for physical activities such as gym, yoga and Pilates memberships, that prevent chronic disease and improve mental health. Health funds should also have discretion to allow their clients to access rebates for natural therapies. Watch the video below to find out what’s changed, and what’s changing next, about private health fund rebates for fitness services.
