National Fitness Industry Code of Practice

Designed for health and fitness service operators in the industry, the National Health and Fitness Industry Code of Practice offers clear guidance that meets legislative requirements for business operation, nationally. 

The purpose of the Code is to promote appropriate standards of trading, inspire consumer confidence and enable business operators to conduct services in a professional and ethical manner.

AUSactive took six previous state and territory codes of practice, the AUSactive Business Principles guide, current Australian consumer law and extensive industry consultation as reference points to draft the National Health and Fitness Industry Code of Practice.

This code is now the new standard of business operation in the contemporary Australian health and fitness industry, and is supported by the Australian Fitness Industry Standards Council. 

This Code sets a base foundation for businesses in the Australian health and fitness industry and enables the industry to continue to build upon this base in the interest of continual business standards improvement.

The ways in which business can look to reach a higher standard above the new Code are through following guidelines like the AUSactive’s Business Principles and taking part in the AUSactive Quality Accreditation Program. 

By applying and achieving the standards set in these initiatives, your business would be moving toward exceeding industry standards and excelling as a standout Australian health and fitness business.
