Professional Registration

AUSactive Registered Professionals wishing to temporarily cease their delivery of exercise services due to medical reasons are permitted to take a leave of absence from their accreditation/registration. Please email us at [email protected] for more information.

No, to renew your previous registration once it expires you need to:

• Complete 20 CECs in the 2 years prior to renewal.
• Hold a current CPR + First Aid certification.
• Make the appropriate payment.

We recommend having your CECs uploaded to your CEC diary before renewing your registration, however, you can renew online or over the phone knowing that such evidence may be requested at any time into your renewal period via a random audit – you will be provided up to 30 days to produce the required documentation.

No, it’s not too late to register as a Sole Trading Business.

Yes. There is no exception granted under the Sole Trading Business category. CECs remain a requirement in order to comply with AUSactives registration requirements (20 CECs are required within the two year period for re- registration).

An Australian First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years and CPR is valid for 12 months.

Both First Aid and CPR certificates must be current at all times in order for your Professional Registration with AUSactive to remain valid. Note: Your insurance may also be invalid if your First Aid or CPR certificates expire.

Yes. You can apply for discounted public liability and professional indemnity insurance as soon as you receive your email confirmation that your registration has been processed and your name is published on the Register of AUSactive Professionals – You can use your registration certificate as evidence of your registration status with insurance providers.

Yes. You can work as as AUSactive Professional as soon as you receive your email confirmation that your registration has been processed and your name is published on the Register of AUSactive Professionals.

You can send your profile link as evidence of your registration status to potential employers or your insurance provider.

AUSactive Professional Registration may be granted in one or more of the following categories aligned with completed qualifications and vocational job roles:
• Personal Trainer
• Gym Instructor
• Group Exercise Instructor
• Group Exercise Leader
• Aqua Exercise Instructor
• Fitness Pilates Instructor
• Pilates Method Teacher
• Yoga Instructor
AUSactive Professionals are registered at levels according to qualification, expertise and experience.

Your registration will be processed when AUSactive has:
• reviewed and verified evidence of your qualifications and relevant certifications; and
• confirmed that you meet all registration requirements and are eligible to be an AUSactive registered professional.
Once your registration has been processed, your name and registration profile will be published on the Australian Register of Exercise Professionals which means you have been registered to practice within the scope of your registration category. The Register is published at https://fitness.org.au/directory/reps/1
AUSactive will send you an email to notify you that your registration has been confirmed.
